Update on Hospital & Clinic Access, During the COVID-19 Fifth Wave
23-12-2021
In light of the significantly increased risk for local COVID-19 spread in our community, we have made some changes to ensure ongoing access to medical services, while attempting to mitigate the risk of an outbreak:
• If you are experiencing mild / non-life threatening viral respiratory symptoms, including those that may be related to COVID-19, please first attempt to access care via the COVID-19 Assessment Centre, by calling 807-727-7035. Many patients with mild symptoms will be able to manage their symptoms at home. Assessment Centre staff will recommend consultation with a physician, if there are concerns.
Red Lake Clinic:
• We will continue to provide essential in-person care via booked appointments, when possible. Please call 807-727-2617 to book an appointment.
• We will continue to provide Urgent Care Clinic assessments to address medical concerns that cannot wait for the next available appointment time.
• All Urgent Care Clinic assessments will be conducted, initially, by telephone, at which time the attending physician will determine whether in-person consultation / treatment is necessary. Please call 807-727-2617 to access the Urgent Care Clinic.
Hospital / Emergency Room:
• If it is outside of clinic hours and you are experiencing a non life-threatening health issue, but feel you may need care in the Emergency Department, please try to call ahead at 807-727-3811. We may be able to provide consultation over the phone or at least help you plan your visit, to minimize risk.
• If you are experiencing a severe or life-threatening health issue, including severe symptoms of COVID-19, please call 911 or come to the Emergency Department immediately. Severe symptoms of COVID-19 may include (but are not limited to) chest pain, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, altered mental state / confusion.
• If you present at the Hospital and you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please notify a staff member, immediately, so that appropriate safety measures can be taken.
• Patients should not bring additional people with them to the Hospital, unless required (for example a pediatric patient who requires a parent / guardian or an adult who requires a care partner).
Thank you for your support and understanding, as we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic.
